MY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND

So, I'm throwing the first party in my life, on Friday, which also happens to be my birthday! Of course, because I'm extremely vain I am on the flier. BUT It's going to be a lot of fun, I guess and hope, because I am teaming up with CATATAK and we are conjoining the party with ATX Fixed Gear Bike kids who are doing a race earlier that day. Intense.

Well, here is the flier:
FRIDAY!
So here is a map to get to the house if there is any confusion. Park on Rowood and go through this alleyway and you should hear the party before you get to it.

This is the fixed gear race that is going on earlier that afternoon.

Also going on worthy of note: Tummy Toast's video release at B&T and Mitchell's OutWithMe DJ set at Cockpit. Of course, I want you to come to my party, but check those out and tell me how they were.

SATURDAY:

I told you THE PARTY was coming back to ATX, and here it is - this weekend at the Red7 - and still All Ages! Don't miss out. Plus, what a nice way to reintroduce themselves to Austin by playing with King Louie.

I missed out on the first one and may miss out on the second one, but it doesn't mean you have to. 21+ should go to this, seems like it'd be interesting. Anyway, if you don't like the nudity, stay for the music.

Just saw this flier for another Saturday party. My Homewerk friends are putting it on!

Just some things to come...

I will be posting about this weekend a little earlier because it is an exciting one for me. Just a little sneak peek: AustinIsBurning is teaming up with Catatak and ATX Fixed Gear and you know that will be an explosive party. Just you wait.

But tonight in Dallas:

At the Granada! with CB boys Sober & Select!

Unofficial afterparty it up at Fallout Lounge with Disqo Disco

ACL Weekender

Well, it's ACL weekend. I don't know how many of you are going, but I couldn't afford to spend all that money on a music festival. Plus, I wasn't even that into the headliners and artists. I think Bjork topped it last year for me. So, here are a few legitimate parties to attend instead or also for those going...

Friday:

CSS is doing a fucking house party in East Austin! If you don't show up, you're crazy.

Sorry for posting this one late! Apparently there's a 300 person limit and plenty of rules that go along with this party. Just go to The Famousish blog to get that information.

Saturday:

Free beer and food. Go shopping, listen to music and eat and drink. Sounds good to me. And it's earlier so you have something to do while people are sitting around outside at Zilker Park.

Ok, I don't know about this Ho theme or anything but I wouldn't mind $100 of free Victoria's Secret. Plus, there's my new blog friends. And look, it's says free vodka.

That's all I've got for now, if I find anything else out, you know I'll let you know.

-TD
P.S. The Cave Party was fucking crazy. I'll update more in depth later but I had a couple short conversations with Bill Murray, slash we are in love. Those bus rides were pretty unbearable though.

Attn: Important Announcements

#1:
It's official BILL MURRAY is going to be out at the Cave Party tonight! And we all know he knows how to party. Remember kids, be at Alamo between 930-10 p.m. to load onto a bus and go.

#2:

I am excited to share this exciting piece of deluxe information with the rest of Austin. Saul Williams is coming to perform on Oct. 2.

" The Texas Union Student Events Center's Music and Entertainment Committee
will host a performance by Saul Williams, dynamic musician and poet, in the
Texas Union Ballroom at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008."
However,
"Admission to the Saul Williams event is free for the UT community. A pass
is required for admission but does not guarantee admission to the event. UT
students, faculty and staff may obtain 2 passes from the Texas Union Student
Events Center Events & Info Desk (UNB 4.300) by presenting their UT ID. Pass
distribution will begin on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 8:00 AM (pass
distribution: weekdays 8AM-5PM). This event is open to UT students, faculty,
and staff."

So, find somebody from UT to bring you or buy you passes. I had an obsession to Saul William's poetry a while back - only having read She and , said the shotgun to the head. But I don't need to listen to all of his hip-hop, music, and new poetry in order to know he is amazing. For those who don't know about him (WIKIPEDIA). He's worked with Trent Reznor of NIN and played with many others.

#3: For those who didn't jump on the bandwagon and buy tickets fast enough, remember the alternatives tonight at Black&Tan and Beauty Bar. They should be a lot of fun, too, just not in a dank cave.

#4: From the same place as previously, on the old Diesel on the Drag, I spotted a model search that is going on. I'll let you in on it once I know more information.

Austin Style Watch

Now, I have been following AustinStyleWatch Rachel's blog for quite a while now, and I got the opportunity to see her speak at University Fashion Group @ UT. I've never even spotted her around town before, which is unfortunate, because she's really cool and down-to-earth.

Here is the blog she wrote about her visit back to UT, where she graduated as a multimedia journalism major. She even makes a mention of Austin is Burning! (and linked the site, me amo)

[Click on Image for Link to Blog]

Also, I am going to be writing an article soon on local Austin bloggers, and any others in other locations, who have turned their blog into a sort of business or have reaped benefits from the blogosphere - connections, opportunities, etc. Let me know if you are interested.

PS - Photo on the left is my friend Kristine who got tagged in Outfit Popcorn during the meeting.

thuuurrrsday

So, everyone already knows about the cave party. (Which by the way, Famousish just posted saying we meet at 10:30 sharp at Alamo on South Lamar)

THURSDAY:
I'm not sure if it's sold out yet, but for those who are not going or couldn't get tickets, here's an alternative. I keep walking by this flier and it reminds me ACL is this weekend and all the parties that will come along with it.

Now THIS looks really cool. Live music, DJs, Bleach Magazine, probably a bit better than your usual Beauty Bar event.

Also, tonight is Sounds Fun at Black&Tan, with Abominitron

I absolutely love the flier.

Maybe I'll be able to go out tonight, if I'm lucky.

^_^

Altar of Bang: Richard Gear wrote the nicest blog about me and put me in his blogroll. I don't know why I didn't notice it till now, but either way it made my dreary night studying a little sunnier. [click photo for blog entry]

His blog is so cool, he updates all the time with music and events that you want to hear and know about. HTTP://THEALTAROFBANG.BLOGSPOT.COM

Thank You, AnnieRay

I ran into Annie Ray at Beauty Bar the night of the Midnight Juggernauts and Heartsrevolution and she told me she read my blog, which was really nice to hear considering I honestly thought/still think maybe only 2-5 people read it. However, last night I checked onto her site, I saw this little gem:

Sweet niblets. Thank you to everyone who clicks on that link or TheFamousish link, you should drop me a line sometime so I know someone's reading.

-TD
P.S. I've been wanting to blog more about fashion, but since this site has been getting attention for other things rather I'm not sure if I should. We'll see. Keep on keeping on.
P.P.S. If you haven't bought tickets [click!] for this cave party yet, get on it.

There are supposed to be 'very famous' special guests, I'm hoping for Bill Murray, but moreso Harry Treadaway - dreamboat.

Scarcity

Scarcity, scar city, scare city

This weekend is going to be a lot of fun, but I feel like for those who are not going to the boat party, there may not be as many events to attend. I have heard of a few things in passing, however, that may be worth checking out.

TONIGHT:

and - my friends Luke and Brion are DJ-ing a house party at 13th and Salina, which would probably definitely be a lot of fun.

I suggest you go to both, since time allows it and all.

SUNDAY:

I'll get back to you about Saturday night. I feel like this boat party has definitely taken over and nobody even made an effort to plan something for the same night.

360° Turn Around

My day/week has definitely been brightened.

I just came to the attention that I've got a friend in http://elitesuburbanites.com/, who secretly paid for my site to own the URL www.AUSTINISBURNING.com. Sweet, it's like a real website now. Go to their site, they have some sweet tunes up to jam to and announced some shows I haven't heard of yet but sound like fun.

Also, the other day my invite to the boat party came via e-mail and I am taking my sister. I imagine this boat party to be like the movie The Cat's Meow, which means I'm going to go all out and dress like Marion Davies (Kirsten Dunst) in the movie.

This should be the de facto theme and we can all pretend to be 1920s high society.

Also, my birthday is coming in about 2 weeks and 1/2 and party plans are definitely in the making. Just you wait.
-TD

P.S. My friend Will will be spinning at this RVCA event in Austin. It's at Mellow Johnny's, should be cool.

Ike is coming!

So many things are getting canceled this weekend, but I'm pretty positive these parties are all still going to happen for sure --

FRIDAY
Never been to the Elysium, but this seems like it'd be a lot of fun.

I don't know this girl, but she's really cute and the party's at Creekside, so it should be fun.

SATURDAY

Afterparty with Famousish.

En Dallas

If you are in/from Dallas, go to this. First of all, free happy meals? Awesome. Keith P, also Awesome. And Hamburger Headaches? Not so awesome, but worth it.

Last night...
was the Heartsrevolution and Midnight Juggernauts free show. I was lucky enough to go, and it was waaaay badass. Anyone who's a genius was there, of course. I mean - it was just the right combination of music, and free, and dancing. The afterparty at Music Gym was also rad. I had never been there before, but it's a really cool location and set up.

Here's that flier, though it's too late to go if you didn't.
To everyone who went to BB last night, :D.
-TD

PS - does anyone have any pictures of me from last night? I just want one because I was wearing my favorite vintage dress and have no pictures of it. Thanks!

Jam-Packed Tuesday

It's sad that it isn't even rare for me to be so completely booked from morning to night on a Tuesday anymore. Aside from all the boring, monotonous school/work stuff though, there are some fun things going on tonight. First and foremost is the celebration of my friend Christopher's (AKA DJ Max Ferrari) 21st Birthday at Black&Tan tonight!

Free of course! And 18+! Don't hesitate to buy him a drink :D or give him a supreme present/hug.

Also tonight:
In Dallas, there is the weekly Disqo Disco at Fallout Lounge!
This week Richard Gear from the 512 is spinning so Dallasites are in for a treat.

So, if you are in either of these area codes and not swamped with work (or even if you are like myself) GO OUT! I need a fckn' break.

The Party is relocating

...to Red7, for Austinites. As for Dallasites, keep going to the Loft.

Will (SOB3R) tried to help me get into Whisky Bar last night -Thankyou! Unfortunately it didn't pan out, but he did tell me a juicy piece of information. The Party is officially coming back to Austin :D This time they'll be at Red 7 (7th & Red River) and they will continue to be All Ages parties for the youngns. Look forward to some shows there; I'll let you know once I hear about one!

Psst.. "party on the boat!"

Well, here it is... this "party on the boat" everyone keeps hearing about and talking about seems to have been officially announced! So the party is super VIP; it's invite only... If I am lucky, I'll snag some tickets for myself...

The flier is scary, and apparently the movie Donkey Punch is about these teenagers who are on a boat and all kill eachother or something equally morbid, hope that does not happen on Sept. 20.

In two weeks? Sweeeet... I feel like my weekends have been pretty booked with fun things. Hope it doesn't die down over the school year.
-TD

Come back, TheParty!

I think everybody who's been to The Party at Mohawk is missing it as much as I am. So, be sure to go tonight (!) to Whisky Bar, where The Party is coming back to spin, and with special guest Faux Fox.

Bringin' The Party from Dallas to Austin!
Plus, what a groovy flier.

I'm going to try to go of course. Try harrrd.

OR Milk @ Beauty Bar is always fun. At least I had a lot of fun at the one I was lucky enough to catch... the 4th I believe. This one looks dark, maybe you should go dressed like a vampire.

If not those 2, B-the-Beat (Brion) is DJing a house party tonight as well. Probably worth checking out of course, not that I have personally seen him myself. But a good house party is always a lot of fun - unless it involves getting harassed by bros and sohoes.

Here's the flier for that:

Yelle @ Mohawk

On OCT. 8! Look out for this one... it should be more fun than you can handle. Plus, I feel like it's bringing back the dance to Mohawk - which has been far too absent in the scene recently... (due to noise complaints or something trivial like that?)

Just one of the many sweet shows/parties to come. September is going to be a good month. October will be a good month, too -- after all, it IS my birthday month. Hell, it's going to be a good year, if everyone will just stick around.

Get excited!

Why I love Famousish:

I was so happy to have seen this. Thank you, Doneski!
AustinisBurning is clearly undergoing a makeover - how do you like it?
I shot the banner today with self-timer in my little room. Hoping to go for a Flaunt Magazine-y look. Give me your feedback.

I have so many surprises in store for you and scoops on sweet shows to come! Just you wait.
