Keith P, DJ

KILLTHENOISE and Treasure Fingers were both really great, but I had never heard Keith P. before and thought he was really bad ass. He played some really good songs and remixes (IE: Bad and Rumps) The show had waaaay too little of an outcome considering how good the DJs were; Dallas needs to wake up and get out. I don't regret missing Benny Benassi for this, but I don't have $25. I already spent all my money last night as it is.

POINT BEING is check out Keith P, he's a killer DJ with a sweet sound. He has some mixes on his myspace page and should be playing more shows in Dallas soon. I can't go b/c I'll be in Taiwan, but you should goooo

Snowden

I want this to be a short and simple post.
I saw Snowden earlier tonight at House of Blues in Dallas; they were amazing. Got a set list and autographs. Talked to the lead singer Jordan who was really down to earth. Hopefully will be seeing more of them on my trip to Atlanta.

weekend updatez:

AUSTIN WAS A BLAST!

I ended up skipping out on C&C because of the cover, and just going to Beauty Bar both nights for CobraKrames+LissaMonet on Friday and MILK4 on Saturday. Here are some pictures from the events:

Friday night:

Party Flicks: OUTWITHME
& THEPARTYDFW
Photobooth: ANNIERAY
The last two are of me, by Mitchell, at the after party in my favorite swimsuit. He did a mini photo sesh of me in it :]

I unfortunately missed Lissa Monet, I didn't know she was going on soooo early, but I caught Cobra Krames, who was amazing.

Saturday night:

Photos: weownthiscity
I literally danced this entire night, King Louie and Abominatron were good.

MY OUTFIT ON FRIDAY NIGHT:

The Salvation Army sparkly leotard dress that I cut the crotch off of, and some Payless heeled black boots. Simple, but I liked it. [photo by SOB3R of TheParty]

ED REC VOL.3

Tracklist:
01. Mr. Oizo - Yves
02. Busy P (Feat. Murs) - To Protect and Entertain
03. Mr. Flash - Over the Top
04. SebastiAn - Dog
05. Uffie - Robot Oeuf
06. Justice - Stress (Auto Remix)
07. Mr. Oizo - Minuteman's Pulse
08. DJ Mehdi - Pocket Piano
09. Krazy Baldhead - No Cow, No Pow
10. DSL - Find Me in the World
11. Feadz (Feat. Spank Rock) - Back it Up
12. So Me - Decalcomania

So, I got it leaked, aaaannnd here's what I think.
So far, I definitely prefer the previous two albums better, but maybe I've just grown accustomed to them. Some of the songs are a bit experimental, and there are less tracks with lyrics on this album, I'd say, and the tracks are totally not cohesive at all. It'll go from metal sounding, to noise, to minimalistic, to lounge, (not in that specific order of course). Strange. I'm not a huge fan yet, but maybe it'll hit me later. We'll see how everybody else feels about it. ResidentAdvisor has a reviewed it already and given it a 3. I think I agree.

Find it for yourself.

Milk 'n Zines

So this guy who works at AA that I met briefly named Reynard has a zine coming out, and is throwing a release party at Club Deville on Saturday. It should be pretty legit. I don't know anything about Candy&Cigarettes, but you can look at the blog for yourself.

I've also never attended a MILK, but it definitely seems worth checking out as well. Bonus - it's free!

One or the other? OR just go to both - why not?

Noel Fielding, FSHN ICON

Noel Fielding is a UK actor, artist and comedian from the show "The Mighty Boosh." I was prompted to check him out after The Famousish's feature on the TV show. I saw the picture of Noel Fielding and pretty much fell in love with his style (and his looks). Most importantly though, the man is a fucking fashion god. He pulls off the hipster, punk, rocker, and even slightly gothic trends but clearly has his own flair to it. Such a good mixture of everything good fashion-wise. I love him.

It seems his daily outfit usually consists of dark skinny jeans, a tee, bad ass leather boots, and a loud jacket that tops it all off. On top of that his choppy black haircut makes him look so gorgeous.

Example to the left: Check out those killer white boots, black skinnies, teal 'vintage-inspired' fitted shirt, black pea-trench-coat, and brown leather murse? I never really support murses, but he's pulling it off, besides mixing brown and black.

HERE ARE SOME MORE SEXY PHOTOS:

I think I am falling in love. I need a guy who dresses like that.

DJ Teenage Wolf vs. The Party

Hands up! ft. DJ Teenage Wolf of CulnSweet at the Loft last night was pretty bad ass. Teenage Wolf's style is cool, I pretty much enjoyed his entire set. I wanted to dance a lot more to it, but man Dallas cannot dance. I felt like most of the people there looked like they were at a high school prom or something. I won't hate though, Dallas doesn't have as big of an electronic, disco, hipster scene as ATX. I had fun, regardless. Also, getting in on the "list" for free was pretty sweet, too.
Thanks Central Booking and SOB3R!

I got a million photos taken of me, and a Polaroid. I'll put up the ones that exist so far, and update later with the others.

LATE UPDATE:

Art Exhibit revisited, Hey La La @ the United States Arts Authority on March 29, 2008.

I went with a couple of friends and was only able to stay for some art and a few Hey La La songs, but from what I stayed for, it was really cool. The art was all very innovative, especially the video art and the humongous piece Kristine and I took pictures with.

Dressed up for the RSJ ME$$ party at the Abandoned Club.

Photos taken by a really stoned artist who did the wall drawing in the background.

hey la la and their awesome visuals in the background, made for cool band pics

Gramophone

I am going to start actually trying to update on events after they happened actually; this was far too delayed... but I just randomly found the pictures on my computer and remembered to edit and post them. :D

P.S. Those of you who keep up should know that Hey La La is no longer a band, but their tribute page can be found HERE. RIP Hey La La, I really liked your sound.

Heatherette, meh

I have always admired Heatherette's unique take on fashion and sort of outrageous style, but sometimes it seems like designers just try too hard to make things "different" and venture into yes, unchartered fashion territory, but sometimes they are just meant to be left alone. I mean, it's cool to make something that is "unique" but chill out and maybe actually try to make something fashionable and timeless. At times it looks like designers try to just make something as avant garde as possible without regards to how it will actually look down the runway.

For example, the Spring 2008 "Ready to Wear" (I beg to differ) Heatherette collection is kind of a disaster in my humble opinion. I do however like some key guy outfits (the rest were pretty ridiculous) and only a couple girl ones.

These actually fit into the category of "Ready to Wear" and I can definitely see influences of today's trends in there along with timeless fashions. I likey.

BUT YUCK:

a. Ew at this print they continue to use throughout the line, and the awkward length, and the bad top cut.

b. I'm never a fan of full length, but some are acceptable. This is just ridiculous though, horrible pattern and the top is just gaudy.

c. This looks like a joke. Too many fashion faux pas in one outfit. I hope no actual guy falls for this and buys this outfit. They will look like Fabio meet Dungeons and Dragons.

d. Once again, trying too hard.

e. I also hate 1-sleeves, but this is ridiculous. The length is so unflattering.

All I can say is, DISASTER.

Clarissa meets Angela Chase?

Top from Buffalo Exchange, it had no sides at all and said "Club Med." Shorts from Texas Thrift, sewn up by me and slightly reconstructed. Shoes are the ones below from Salvation Army. I got all sorts of compliments and comments on my likeness to Clarissa Explains it All (ahem, Erik) and Clare Danes from My So-Called Life (Ann). I don't really see too much resemblance honestly. The outfit was slightly 90s inspired, but I see many more 80s influences.
