2K9!

Okay, I guess I need to start sorting out what the hell's going on New Year's Eve now, a little late I'm sure.

Fancy,

@ Peacock

House Party @ Headquarters
(2002 E. 16th St.)
"No high schoolers allowed"

This is where I'd like to be if I was in the DFW area:

Of the listed, I'd have to strongly suggest Creekside for it's lack of cover, Black and Tan for the DJs and the free champagne, Victory Grill for the DJ and the open bar, and the house party cause I'll be there.
Have a nice NYE,
TD

It's Tuesday!

meaning:

This week's guests are JOHN GOMI and PREPMODE.

Fancy That at Whisky Bar with Mr. Fantastico - maybe?

I'll be in Dallas still, going to this week's Disco Disqo with Vega!

Bein' a bitch

People say he (Dan Deacon) was tripping acid in a closet, but apparently he was just really sick and watching TV muted on Nyquil.
What a guy.

MEGAPOST: Tri-City Update

FRIDAY:
Something to do tonight, Austin.

I am definitely going to be back home by New Year's Eve, but I feel like everybody is still gone. Who'll be in Austin for New Year's? Please, give me a show of hands.

Denton and Dallas are a lot more happening tonight it seems:

This one is at Hailey's in Denton. Good club, good DJs. Vega will be there, what more need I say?

At Zubar (Lower Greenville)in Dallas.

Finally the time for this party has arrived. I'm excited -- I assure you I will be there tonight, dressed festively.

SATURDAY:

Maybe it costs $3, but Glasnost is DJ Richard.Gear approved. Go to their Myspace and preview it for yourself.
Or:
Glasnost - Static
Looks like Go Go Garcia is also DJing that night. Alternative flier?

In Dallas, this sounds like it'd be pretty legit. I really like Keith P's sound. Here's a little featurette I wrote about him after seeing him spin before Kill The Noise over the summer: !!!

Alright. Try to decipher this messy, messy post and tell me what you're doing. Enjoy yourself, after all the holidays are over and you should be stress free 'til after New Years. At least, that's my policy.

What's going on?

Austin, I don't know what to tell you. However, if you've migrated elsewhere for the holidays (in Texas that is) it looks like there are a few things to go to this Christmas that sound pretty great.

HOUSTON:
I don't really know Houston very well or anything, but maybe there is at least one person from Houston reading this blog. I'm not sure what Chances on Westheimer is like, but this event I just found out about for tonight sounds really cool. They've got Kid Indie DJ-ing and the kid I recently mentioned, Joshua Distance.

The residents, GRRRL PARTS, have a blog you can go to HERE. I guess check it out if you wanna keep up with their Houston events. Maybe someday, I'll go and pay that city a visit -- never really been before (even though I lived there for three years of my pre-adolescent life).

DALLAS:
So tonight, if you roll on over to the Fallout Lounge on Exposition, you aren't necessarily guaranteed, but you've got a chance to hear the up-and-up on this killer party going on tomorrow night at an acquaintance of mine's apartment (house?). Cory from Ocelot (ATX) is going to be DJing. Big fucking deal, and I'm not being sarcastic.

They'll be playing with up-and-coming Dallas DJs (resident to Fallout Lounge) Billingham Defense System.

RIO GRANDE VALLEY:

Mitchell, OUTWITHME, is putting this on. He DJs under the alias FaggyFresh. He's also having Brion (B-the-Beat) DJ. Also have never been to the Valley, but if you're down there this Holiday break, I suggest you go check out Club Montrose tonight.

Enjoy your respective holidays,
Tiffany

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!

to you, from me.

Farah does it better

So, here in Dallas, I recently met this girl, Farah. Her band, named after her, is Dallas-based and adorable. They're a part of the Italians Do It Better label, along with Glass Candy - who I decided I like recently. I may not be the best music critic, but Farah's pretty damn good in by book. She says she's played at Beauty Bar a couple of times; let me know how that was if you had a chance to catch any of her live performances. Listen to Law of Life on the band's Myspace. I wish I had an MP3 download I could put on the blog.

You can buy the label's After Dark LP or CD on this site: IDIB Store.
Sounds like a good deal to me, maybe that should've gone on my wishlist. See you soon Austin,

Richard.Gear, in Dallas

I was really happy to hear that one of my favorites of Austin, Richard.Gear, is going to be in Dallas this break. (Click on his name if you didn't read my feature on him from last month). He's playing at The Cavern tonight! I have actually never been but am hopefully checking it out.

Come if you are in Dallas! If not, I honestly haven't a clue what's going on in Austin tonight.

Bonsoir,
Tiffany

UPDATE: (Oops, totally lied. I forgot I keep getting texts from Don about his/Orion's joint birthday party at the Black and Tan) Go to that! Here's the flier:

Happy Birthday, boys!

DJ DOJO XMAS SALE

Speaking of buying new, shiny things. Check out this sale going on tomorrow at DJ DOJO. I'm glad French Roast sent it to me because I felt like I'd be at a lack of things to blog about. This is definitely worth blogging about. DJs, Drinks, AND Cheap Shit. Sounds ideal.

Looks like this is going on, concurrently. I think a lot of people would want DJ lessons, or need them. JK (depending on if you are my friend or not).

For more information, go to the site: iscratchvinyl.com

Dear Santa,

I've been a semi-good girl this year and I think I deserve these things more than anything:

Rodarte tights / GoJane.com studded booties

Complex Geometries top / Faux Fur Pillbox hat, Urban Outfitters

Cheap Monday Leather Shorts

Obesity and Speed Nothing Sacred Tank

Studded black bustier

A Loft apartment near downtown

Please, please, please, let me get what I want.
-TD
P.S. I, in no way, really expect any of these things for Christmas. Wishful thinking.

Another out-of-towner

It seems like either things are slowing down after last weekends craziness and the holidays. That, or I am bad at finding things to do while I'm in Dallas.
TONIGHT:

SATURDAY:

ALL WEEKEND:

I found out about this through East Austinite. It sounds pretty cool, and it's going on all weekend so you have 3 chances to not miss it.

Tomorrow's parties

Well, well, well. Looks like it's official. Black and Tan is now a 21+ only bar. I suppose underagers will have to find a new venue to go to, or stick to the house parties now.

disintegrating.

First, sorry for not posting yesterday. I would've told you about Fancy That at Whisky Bar and Sounds!Fun! at Black and Tan. I went to the latter; Ian Orth and Markus with a K were the guests this time around.

I'll actually be gone for a little while for the break/holidays. I'll try to keep the blog updated meanwhile though.

But for now I want to share with you another photographic find. I only recently stumbled upon the photography of Jess Williamson. I think she's friends with some people I know but I don't think I have ever met her. Here are a few samples of her work. The rest can be found on her Flickr or her Web site.

I love everything about her work.
Enjoy,
Tiffany Diane
