my "closet"

Getting rid of some of this mess this weekend at the clothing swap at Beauty Bar. I have a dresser and a small closet-full, too. Can you believe that that is not even all of my shoes, let alone heels and boots... I don't want to talk about it. Actually, I could probably talk about it for a long time. I suppose I should probably bring more than 10 items and take 0.

SNEAKVIEW No.1

This is definitely worth going to... let me preface the event by saying that Bleach Online (as you guys ought to know a local online publication that I have been working for) is going to be giving the public a sneak preview of their upcoming issue "Hello 1992," which I will be guest editor for. I personally know there will be a lot of good-looking photo spreads and thought-provoking interviews. Check out the last issue, "Cannibalism," to get a feel of what Bleach Online is all about. If you don't already have Bleach Online Drop on your blog roll / Reader, you should add it -- there are updates on events, issues, past artists.

Other than Hello 1992, there will be live sets by bands, including The White White Lights, who will be premiering songs from their unreleased album. DJs will also be spinning. An added bonus, after-hours the Independent will be BYOB or BYOL. I am pretty exciting about going to this one after the clothing swap put on by miss Tolly and Sarah Dean. That one ends at 10, so you've got plenty of time to go to both.

Lemme reiterate:
AFTER-HOURS

See you Saturday !

rock and swap .

I am sure you all know about the larger scale clothing swap party being thrown by Magnolia Family Vintage and Austin Eavesdropper. Hopefully you also knew that I am donating some of my own clothing to the mix. I may not even take any clothes though, considering I have no room for what clothing I own currently (a lot). All you need to attend this event is to bring 10 items of your own clothing.

I was excited to read that MFV and Laced With Romance were going to have pop-up shops at the location as well. Check out Miss Sarah Dean (MFV) on her blog The Year of Living Thriftily. Here are some of my Laced with Romance favorites -- in her Ebay store now.

(First model is my seriously hott boss. Can you imagine working for such a babe?)

Love Laced With Romance.
Seriously, where does she find this stuff? I want to go to there.
I will bring some decent stuff, I swear.

*Other clothing donations will be provided by Esti Choi of Buy Definition and Indiana Adams of Adored Austin. Make sure you read Sarah Dean's list of clothing swap do's and don'ts.

I love Morrissey.

Undoubtedly, Morrissey is one of my favorite musicians of all time. The Smiths has always been one of my favorite bands, since I heard my first song by them. I was excited to see that there was going to be a night at Beauty Bar dedicated to him/them.

Who could not be attracted to this?
Why do all the good ones have to grow older and less asexual?

Tonight at Beauty Bar, 10 - 2
DJ Alan B (or is it Richard Henry, too?)

Otherwise, Spoon is playing at Waterloo in an hour. I am sure this one is going to get really crowded fast.

P.S. The Girls show at the Parish and Yo la Tengo at Antone's are already sold out. Bummer. Just informing you, though.

all tonight's parties.

Hope you RSVP'd to this one. It's $5 if you did and $8 if you didn't.
Quick -- RSVP at http://learningsecretsmusic.com/rsvp
Happy 6th Birthday, Ian and Jeramy!

*If you are not going to this, it'd probably be worth it to check out old-Spiro's AKA Barbarella on their 80's night, or Elysium for their Depeche Mode night ($3). Okay, maybe I am just in a dance-y 80's mood right now, because those just sound fantastic to me.

Haiti benefit this Wednesday

Tomorrow, Rare and Charity Bash are getting together and throwing a benefit for Haiti at Molotov. Entrance is $10, but there will be drink specials and free food. The only incentive you really need though is that all proceeds will be going to Haiti and 15% of the bar will be donated by Molotov.

This eastside art show seems like it should be pretty interesting.

Afterward, head over to one of these promising events --

I keep hearing about this new bar. Maybe it is time to check it out.

Rainy weekend .

Staying in the rainy weather is great, but staying in for an entire week is getting to be too much. It may be about time to hang up the pajamas and take out the high heels again for this homebody. I feel like the rest of Austin is in hiding from this rainy weather as well, then again I haven't been out to witness this. Last week's Missions show at the Mohawk for free week was great! They had a couple mishaps on stage, but were still able to really blow everybody away.

Tonight, might I suggest a couple locations less frequented:

A birthday party, accompanied by the men of Learning Secrets and amazing drink specials. Don't forget to RSVP to THEIR very own 6th birthday party.

A free event thrown by friend to AIB, Richard Henry. Be sure to check out Richard Henry's blog Destroy All Monster; it has been doing fabulously.

Enjoy your nights & stay dry!

Wednesday night

Hey, I know there has been a lull in posts.
I'm back to tell you all about a couple events for tonight.
It's bizarre that there is much even happening tonight considering it is Wednesday and pretty drizzly.

This is what I have to suggest:
Since this is a VIP BBQ, I'm not sure how it works, but regulars and homies to Mohawk are invited. That's pretty broad right? Will they kick you out if no one recognizes you? I don't know. Either way, there will be cheap booze and free food.

There are also a lot of things coming up that I will post about... IE: Fashion Freakout!
