AIB IS BRN VMT.

Welcome to BRN VMT, which is "brain vomit" in case you couldn't tell. I called it this, because I have this issue with verbal regurgitation -- if you know me you know this to be true. So, while I definitely have a word vomit issue in real life, surely an online journal of mine would be my brain vomit. I'll be using this the same way I used Austin is Burning, but now I feel less constrained by geographical locale.

Thank you for reading, and please come back for more interviews, music, videos, life stuff, photos, etc.

xo,
Tiffany

NYLON DAILY: Austin, I love you.

Last week, when I got asked to work as Nylon's Austin reporter, bringing you information from the capitol of Texas, I was awe-struck and didn't entirely believe it. However, when I awoke today to find the announcement on their website; now, I believe!

Click here to sign up for the Nylon Daily newsletters. I will be reporting on Austin, but feel free to figure out what's going on in the other four amazing cities.

Thanks so much, Nylon, for this opportunity!

Updates: Broken Bells + Voting + Burger City

Broken Bells - The Ghost Inside
This song has been haunting me on the radio (yes, I may be the only person in the world who listens to FM radio still), and I had to figure out what it was. I know a stink at keeping up with music, but when I found this video, I had to share. It's amazing and for lack of a better/different word -- haunting. I love the poolside imagery, but paired with the distopic future, it's quite a feature film.

Voting

I early-voted in Fiesta today; have you voted, yet? I would like to see a little change... I won't tell you who to vote for, but if you care enough, you should, too.

BURGER CITY SHIRTS!

As if there was any other incentive to go to Burger City Rock n Roll at The Grand Monday nights -- Ben Tipton has now created this rad Burger City shirts for only $10. You can grab one tonight. I am in love.

Me, on Nasty Gal's blog!

I was featured on e-tail site Nasty Gal's blog recently for wearing Jeffrey Campbell Foxy platforms which I purchased on their site. Just a little brag post I thought I'd put up. Thanks for noticing me, NG!

Intermission

Harper's Bazaar Singapore

In high school, an anonymous screen name on AIM talked to me. His name was "DreamerBoy" or something like that. Anyway, he told me he had a crush on me, but I was so rude when he wouldn't reveal his identity that he decided he didn't like me anymore. What do you think that says about my personality?

Sorry for the lack of posts, I have some good ones coming.

Lack of technology

Just a friendly update:

I am now completely devoid of a laptop or internet FOR 7+ DAYS, which means I am unable to conduct any sort of blogging except when I'm at a friend's house or work (a no no). Will try to keep posting.

Apparently, I have some sort of virus that is commonly transmitted through Facebook, yeesh now there's even technologically transmitted social diseases -- welcome to the new millennium. I have added one worthy upcoming event in my calendar to the right; check it out!

Rarest of Them All ft. ME

So braggy of a blog post, but

I got 2nd in Best Local Blogger in Rare's Rarest of Them All issue!

In all my glory

Every June, Rare Magazine does a poll, locally, of all the best Austin digs, including restaurants, retail stores, people, etc. This year, I was named 2nd in the Best Local Blogger poll, which is insane. I rank among Austinist and Austin Eavesdropper? I'm surprised. I didn't even ask anybody to vote for me. Thanks to any reader who did, I am so glad you like my blog! I am honored to have even been voted for once!

I honestly didn't know this blog was popular enough to get votes. My head is growing by the second.

Check out the issue online or hunt for it IRL.

P.S. Congrats to all the other winners of the polls, I was happy to see some favorites like Stag, Uchi, Buy Definition, Rio Rita, Shangri La and Barbarella listed.

Hey, ya'll - updates

Sorry for the lack of update yesterday.

Guess what? I'm graduating college in a week. Thus, big things are coming.
But for now, just a day at a time.

Keeping the calendar updated, so just look over to the right side.
We got My Cousin Roy in town tonight for an old fashioned Learning Secrets party at Beauty Bar. $3 with RSVP, which is hopefully still open. Then we've got Love at 20 playing at Emo's. Both should be worthwhile musical events.

PS-- I'm glad I got such nice reception for my "Single Ladies" blog! That's just me writing my opinions, too, I suppose I should put more up like that. How do ya'll feel about that? Obviously, I'm not a life-genius, but I like to think that I am a firm believer in proper social conduct. :)

More soon...
Much love, TD

AIB Updates:

+ Decidedly am having a summertime garage sale. I haven't had one since I was in high school, any suggestions?
+ I moved my blog to the left. It was just a feeling I had.
+ Thanks everyone for the well-wishes. I am feeling much better. The air bubble in my chest is shrinking, my scratches and scrapes are in the healing process and I have been out a couple times recently.
+ I am going to start actually posting as expected soon. I was just taking a break while I played catch-up in my life.
+ Smiles all around.

Most importantly,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS MAGGIE!
(My collaborative co-worker at Bleach Online.)
Photo from upcoming Hello 1992.

This woman is seriously a force to be reckoned with.

Thursday, April 1, 2010

Hey, please answer this question, readers...

What do you think about me having a garage sale sometime this summer?
I just have too much stuff.

Exhibit A:

Would you go?
Would you bring friends?
Would you tell your friends' friends about it?
Would you bring a cooler and hang out?
Please let me know your response!

Much love,
Tiffany

Lack of life

Sorry for not posting much lately, readers. Pre-spring stress has caused me to hide away for a weekend and keep away from the Internet. My life, lately, has consisted of:

1. Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland
2. 13 Going on 30
3. Prototype Vintage Design
4. Ugly Betty
5. Clementines
6. Family, the best of all
7. Bright pink lipstick, photo courtesy of uLovei
8. Laundry

I will be back to update these coming weekdays. There is so much.

Calender updated >>

I have updated my calendar finally (and plan to keep it updated from now on). I will update more later when I have a spare moment, but everybody remember that tonight is dear blog friends' ULTRA8201's 4th anniversary party at the Ghost Room. More later on that too, of course.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ULTRA8201

Friday, November 27, 2009

happy everything.

Hello all,

So, this is going to be extremely informal, not that everything else that I post is not. I just mean, by saying so, that I don't have much of a formula for this one rather than just being rambley, listing things off and speaking personally.

So, it's Black Friday officially. I am sure some nuts are waiting at WalMart, or Sears, or wherever already. I am tucked into bed at 'home' back in the DFW, tired from a day filled only with TV and food, nothing terribly exciting or horrid just relaxing. I hope everybody else had an extremely filling and satisfying Thanksgiving / Turkey / Tofurkey Day.

Busy as always, without much of a chance to update. However, lucky for me, it won't be like that for too much longer, though I will be in Taiwan -- pretty much as far away from the U.S. / Austin as I could possibly get. That should be amazing!

So, as for events (that I usually post much more diligently) -- I have been attempting to keep the calendar on the side of my site updated, especially when I don't have time for posts. Give that a look. There is some stuff going on tonight (Friday), so I hope those of you in Austin at the moment enjoy your Black Friday and don't spend all your dough shopping, which isn't such a bad thought right now.

I hope you guys - my invisible audience - haven't quit reading since I haven't updated in a week. I don't quite know what is expected of one who blogs. Hope to keep up better once the storm that is the end of a semester has passed.

Much love,
TD

P.S. I am thankful for everything, and my new scooter Baby.
+What are ya'll thankful for?

celebrating myself

... constantly.

Hello everybody,
I am officially announcing my official birthday party, which will be British and 1960s themed (I am indecisive), at the Longbranch Inn on E. 11th St. I am excited to invite all of you, my readers, to come as well. Feel free to drop by from about 10:30 till 2 and say "hi." I will be the asian girl who's acting like it's still her birthday. My buddies Ramesh (Voxtrot) and Renan (Ringo Deathstarr) will be DJing. It is also the day before Ringo Deathstarr will be leaving for their U.S. tour so feel free to give them high fives. Also, it's my friend Daniel Fox's birthday -- coincidentally on the same date -- so buy him drinks, too. Happy Birthday, Daniel!
Much love - xoxo,
Td

PS - I just realized I didn't put a date on this baby. It's Saturday Oct 10!

A letter to all of you

Hello Readers,

Let me just take the time out to address all of you out there reading this. First of all, thank you for doing so. It always surprises me that people take interest in what I have to say or trust my opinion on what's good. It means a lot to me every time somebody approaches me in public and says something nice or people want me to post about their band because they think this little blog has any sway.

I also wanted to notify all of you about the changes I have made to the blog. First few changes of many to come. First, I have an official e-mail address for all things Austin is Burning blog related now. It is located in the right panel and is austinisburning@gmail.com. Who doesn't love G-mail? Second, I have taken the suggestion of one great reader, who entered my KVRX ticket giveaway, about making an events listing -- something that everybody can refer to quickly about what is going on on the calender, without having to scroll through every blog I have written. It is also located to the right under my Human Calendar. You'll probably notice some small aesthetic changes constantly happening -- there are more to come. I am so finicky about style, plus I want to make this a blog you are not embarrassed to be looking at in class or at work.

Also, I wanted to tell you guys about stuff I have coming up, little things and big things. First of all, hopefully you noticed my little "sponsorship" on the Art Disaster or Learning Secrets Unofficial After Party fliers. Those are going to be amazing events - be sure to go to those at the Beauty Bar this Thursday and Friday (&RSVP). Second, I have a little something of my own in the making hopefully. I want to extend a formal invitation to all of my readers, friends and family. I am excited about this one and can't wait to confirm some information so I can unload all of it on you guys. Keep posted.

Again, thank you to everybody reading this now.
Much love,
Td
